2011 Bali Gourmet Retreat

cooking passions cooking tours are designed so you can do as much or as little as you like, while allowing you plenty of free time to explore and immerse yourselves in the sights, shopping and eating that YOU want to experience (we’ll be happy to provide suggestions and tips from our previous experiences). We’ve arranged all of the accommodations, cooking classes, cultural Balinese excursions and most meals, so that all you have to do is pack a bag, a sense of adventure and join us on one

 

  

 

The week has been designed so that you can do as little, or as much as you like; be invigorated or take time out; with the emphasis being on renewing and restoring your senses through :

• Relaxing "time out" poolside at two of the world's finest resort swimming pools;
• Revitalise the senses with Balinese cooking classes; and Balinese Eating Excursions;
• Indulge in the enticing spa treatments on offer at ALiLA's Spa
• Temptation of the wonderful tastes and freshness of Balinese cuisine while dining at the resorts a la carte restaurants
• Time and Space to reflect, away from the routine and pace of life at home

•    Rates are NETT and INCLUDE 21% tax and service charge

 

•    Package rate is nett per package per person base on twin sharing

 

•    Single supplement is as quoted, for persons wishing their own room.

 

•    Triple share is available on request in Villa and Suite package.

 

•    Children 3 to 12 years old are COMPLIMENTARY staying with parent in existing bedding, and are entitled to 50% discount on all meals.

•    US$35 nett extra bed cost, including breakfast, is applicable for accompanying children not utilizing existing bedding. Children are also entitled to a 50% discount on all meals.

 

 

The Itinerary

 

Day 1 - Arrival "Relax & Unwind" AliLA Ubud

 

 

- On arrival in Bali, you will be met at the airport (or your hotel, if you've arrived in Bali earlier than our start date) by one of ALiLA's drivers, and driven to ALiLA Ubud, a one hour drive from the airport.

- Once at ALiLA Ubud, the rest of your day is a chance for you to relax and enjoy some time poolside, or if you're up for a bit of activity, use one of the hotel's 18-speed mountain bikes for guests to explore the beautiful surrounding countryside. Afternoon Tea - cups of steaming hot tea and luscious little Balinese sweets - is served daily from 3pm to 5pm, taken either poolside or from the privacy of your room's balcony overlooking the Ayung RiverValley.

• Evening at your leisure - join Nico as he takes those interested to one of his favourite local Ubud restaurants for a unique local Balinese night out or head into Ubud for an evening walk & dinner, or to take in one of the famous Balinese dance performances, that Ubud is famous for.

 

Day 2

 

 

9am - SPA Kitchen Experience & Gourmet Lunch  - This morning we indulge in the essence of the Balinese culture, with this unique culinary & spa experience. After a healthy fresh breakfast by the pool for the day to begin, ALiLA’s Spa Specialists will show us how to prepare handmade facial and body treatments from natural ingredients. ALiLA’s Executive Chef will also demonstrate a couple of healthy, traditional Balinese recipes before we indulge in a lunch at one of ALiLA’s "surprisingly different" venue. Take all recipes home for healthy living.

• Complimentary ALiLA Spa Treatment- To complete the SPA Kitchen Experience, all participants will receive a complimentary SPA ALiLA treatment (Traditional Balinese Massage or Natural Facial) which will be scheduled at a suitable time during the rest of the day...so be prepared to chill out.
• Rest of the Day and Evening at your leisure - Relax poolside; laze on your daybed reading a book; or visit Ubud for some shopping and sightseeing. Tonight we suggest you go into Ubud for an evening walk & dinner, or to take in one of the famous Balinese dance performances, that Ubud is famous for.  

 Day 3

 

• A la Carte Breakfast, at your leisure
• Morning Ubud Countryside Bike Ride (Gentle Trail) - coast through tranquil Balinese villages for a first-hand view of stunning Balinese ricefields and a glimpse at traditional Balinese life. For those who would prefer to spend a morning of relaxation, the cycle ride is optional, but you can meet us for lunch later.
• Traditional Ubud Balinese Smoked Duck Lunch - after the cycle we settle in to one of Ubud's most traditional dishes, Bebek Betutu (Balinese Smoked Duck), where we will see it's preparation and then enjoy a selection of other Balinese dishes for this special lunch. 
  
• Rest of Afternoon & Evening at your leisure - Relax poolside; indulge in an ALiLA Spa Treatment; laze on your daybed reading a book; or visit Ubud for some shopping and sightseeing

Day 4
