ORIENTAL PORK SHORT RIBS (Oriental Pork Short Ribs)
(Serves 6)
I prepared this for a boat cruise we did with friends a few weeks back. They are a great starter with drinks, and can be prepared beforehand and then heated through, when ready to serve. Have plenty of napkins available and enjoy !!
- 1.8 - 2.0kg pork short ribs, cut into individual pieces (about 35-40 pieces)
- 1/2 cup Mirin or Chinese cooking wine
- 1/2 cup hoisin sauce
- 1/4 cup light soy sauce
- 1 1/2 tbsp fresh ginger, finely minced
- 1 tsp Chinese Five Spice powder
- 2 tsp sesame oil
- juice from one orange
- 2 tbsp sweet chilli sauce
- 3 tbsp sugar
- 3 tsp sesame seeds (plus additional for garnish)
- 1 fresh red chilli, sliced thinly (for garnish)
1. Preheat oven to 180C. Prepare the marinade by mixing all the ingredients together in a large bowl.
2. Add the ribs and coat well with the marinade. Line one or two baking trays with baking paper and place coated ribs, on their side, lined up on the trays.
3. Bake for 20 minutes, turn ribs over and brush with reserved marinade. Bake for a further 20 minutes until cooked through.
4. Place on a serving platter, sprinkle with sesame seeds and chilli and serve.
